The boys rescue Matthew and Kavinsky dies in a fireball. Ronan reconciles with his father’s spirit, helping him bring to life a night horror to fight Kavinsky’s dragon. He says he will double-cross his employer to protect Ronan. The Gray Man reveals he was responsible for killing Niall and that his employer demands he acquire Ronan to be the object of his experiments, otherwise the Gray Man will be put at the mercy of his sociopathic brother. Later, Blue goes on a romantic drive with Gansey and stops just short of kissing him. Adam and Blue rendezvous at 300 Fox Way where Blue stops him from kissing her, frustrating Adam. Ronan has opened up about being a dreamer, yet he and Adam are both plagued by nightmares and visions. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue and Adam will be the same. Plagues and devils, conquerors and beasts. No one but Ronan knew the terrors that lived in his mind.
